NAYADA invites you to design lecture center

The NAYADA Company would like to invite you to participate in general educational courses on the history of design for professionals and enthusiasts. The basic main course “History of object design on Tuesdays” will be held from October 1 to November 19 at the NAYADA’s central office.

Students will learn about the most important issues in the history of design of the twentieth century and will hear “first-hand” stories of meetings with the most famous designers of today and of the recent past. The course is ideal for those who need to organize their knowledge in this area, as well as for those who want to expand their cultural horizons

This course is suitable for practicing designers, decorators, architects, owners and employees of furniture companies, textile and floral studios, as well as non-specialists who are interested in this topic.

The classes are conducted by Olga Kosyreva, an expert in the field of design, a well-known design critic, lecturer, journalist and editor, with over 15 years of experience in popular, specialized and business publications.

Program of the course:

October 1. What is design and why do we need it. What relation it has to each of us. People who invented design. Bauhaus and VHUTEMAS .

October 8. New furniture for the new man. The way Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perrian and Eileen Gray changed the world.

October 15. Bent plywood and soul of things. Modernism in Nordic countries and North America: Alvar Aalto, Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Eero Saarinen.

October 22. How are Italian designers different from all the others. The great Italians: Gio Ponti, Achille Castiglioni, Vico Magistretti, etc.

October 29. Pop art and design: sex, drugs & rock-n-roll – contributions to design made by Joe Colombo, Verner Panton, Gaetano Pesce, etc.

November 5. Post-modernism in design. Studio Alchimia Group and Group Memphis, Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsass.

November 12. High-tech old stuff and aesthetics of refusal in modern design: high-tech and minimalist.

November 19. Design of the twenty-first century: design as an art and as a child of high technology.

The course of 8 lectures is delivered once a week – on Tuesdays. Beginning at: 8:00 p.m. (20.00). Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours.
